“Who am I?”

5 May 2018. Today my astonishment is boundless! In the USA there is a laboratory that determines a person’s origin by DNA. In short, in the computer there is such a name, My Heritage. So the first to determine his origin was my husband Ivan. At first I treated this distrustfully.

I will describe the mechanism of the “procedure”: first they send a special envelope with little test tubes, sterile cotton swabs, instructions. And you take from the cavity of the cheek (the saliva should be “hungry,” on an empty stomach). Then you seal everything according to the instructions and send it by post. Somewhere in a month the result.

His result did not greatly surprise me: it is given in percentages of the places he comes from. That is Scandinavia 80%, Finland 14% and 6% the Baltics. In a word, a Viking.

But when I decided to find out my DNA, here a complete surprise awaited me. Yesterday the result “arrived” by e-post: 66.1% the Baltics, 17.7% Eastern Europe, 16.2 the Balkans (that is the territory of the former Yugoslavia) and even 1% from the territory of the peoples of the North. Well, and who am I?
