I flew into Oslo at 6 in the evening. It was a hot July day. That morning Ivan had seen the daughters off to Spain for a holiday. And he had to stay at the airport until evening to meet me. He met me in a new car, a Citroën Picasso Exclusive. (at last I have “formulated” the name, as of today, of my car!)

The purchase of a new car was unplanned for him, but in May he had hit (he did not notice because of the bright sun) a small post, and the airbags went off. Repair would have been very expensive; he had to buy a new one. Having warned me in advance that he would drive me in a new car like a queen! Oh! Me, who had ridden a tram all my life!

Sitting in the new, spacious car, I felt a puppyish delight. Now I will have to go back to my distant childhood, to the military town. My parents had friends who often came to us in a Volga — GAZ-21. At that time that was a luxury. While the parents sat at the table, I would go out into the yard and admire that car. I liked everything: how it smelled of petrol, the “running deer” on the hood. And what a delicious colour it had! Tender coffee with milk! The dream car of my distant childhood. It turns out dreaming is useful! Yes indeed! Dreams come true!

And how beautifully Ivan drives! Calmly, confidently, the 300 km to our village, by my first sensations, flew by “in one breath”! Happiness is close…..
